The PAC - Portugal AutoCluster for the Future Project aims to generate new knowledge and empower the industry

  • The PAC - Portugal AutoCluster for the Future Project aims to generate new knowledge and empower the industry with skills for the development, testing and demonstration of a new generation of technologies that are crucial to the positioning of the national automotive cluster in a new vehicle value chain - Tier 0.5 -, addressing autonomous and connected mobility designs.
  • The project lasted for 3 years, led by Simoldes Plásticos, S.A., with the collaboration of several national entities, including Toolpresse.
  • The project's main output consisted of the development and production of a demonstration car that has been presented at several specialty fairs, such as the Barcelona Automobile such, from May 13th to 21th 2023.
  • The aim of the project is to generate new knowledge and leverage skills so that the national industry can respond to the technological challenges resulting from the new paradigm of the automotive sector.
  • It is divided into the following axes:
  • PPS1 - Future Vehicle Architectures
  • PPS2 – Interiors of the Future
  • PPS3 - Structures and Exteriors of the Future
  • PPS4 - Sensoring and Connectivity Technologies
  • PPS5 - Flexible and Digital Production Technologies
  • Toolpresse is a demonstrator in PPS5 for digitalization in predictive maintenance, in a context of application of the development of a predictive model for equipment maintenance, associated with plastic conformation processes, based on historical and real-time information, from operating and equipment failure parameters, identifying as main challenges the need for long data acquisition times of the equipment and guaranteeing the necessary flexibility and self-configuration on the part of the models to be developed in technological-scientific domains of digital twin; IoT; Big data; Software; Machine Learning and Instrumentation.
